Private programmes

Three ways to work with me personally.

Every programme is delivered by me, not a team, and quoted after a consultation. I take on five private clients a month and one overseas client a quarter.

01 · At Heronswood

Private Residential

Your dog lives and trains with me at Heronswood Canine Retreat, our licensed facility in Lancaster. On day one nothing is asked of him: a walk around the grounds, then his own room to settle. From there, the programme is built around his temperament, his history and how he thinks.

As he progresses, his training moves around the whole site, past the horses, alpacas, goats and other animals we keep on purpose, so he learns to focus on you around real distractions. You get an update every week.

Then the most important part: the handover. You learn to handle him the way he's been trained, and he goes home with a four-week re-bonding plan, a home training plan, and a follow-up session four weeks later, in person or over Zoom.

02 · At your home

In-Home Coaching

I come to you. Full days, working with your dog in the places the problems actually happen, and with everyone in the household who walks, feeds or handles him.

Because a dog mirrors the person on the end of the lead, the whole family learns the same approach. When I leave, everyone is doing the same thing, in the same way.

03 · A dog chosen for you

Bespoke Search & Select

I find the right dog for your family, train him personally, and he is yours when he's fully trained. Every placement starts with a conversation about your home, your family and your daily life, because the right dog matters more than the breed.

Family protection dogs

A family dog first: calm in the house, sociable with the visitors you welcome. He responds to your commands, and if someone comes onto your property when nobody is home to give one, he protects it on his own. Either way, he stops when told. I won't place a protection dog with anyone who wants it to intimidate rather than protect.

Therapy dogs

Calm, steady dogs for therapeutic and support settings. A therapy dog has no legal right of access to shops, transport or housing, and placements in schools or care homes depend on that organisation agreeing.

Looking for an assistance dog? Those are placed through A&T Trained Dogs.
