Do you train my dog yourself?
Yes. Every private programme is delivered by me personally. That's why I take on a limited number of clients each month.
How much does it cost?
Private residential training is £5,000 a week, with a three-week minimum. In-home coaching in the UK is £2,000 a day plus travel, accommodation and food, in full days. Overseas work is priced individually. Bespoke search and select starts from £15,000 for a family companion, £20,000 for a therapy dog and £30,000 for a protection dog. You get a firm quote after the consultation.
Is the consultation free?
No. The consultation is £500, and it's refunded against your programme if you go ahead.
How long will my dog's programme take?
It depends on the dog and the problem. Residential programmes run for at least three weeks, and I set the length after the consultation. Aggression cases often need six weeks or more.
What methods do you use?
Force-free. A flat collar and lead, good timing, and a lot of reward. No prong collars, no shock collars, no punishment.
Will I hear how my dog is doing during residential training?
Yes, you get an update every week while he's with me.
What happens when my dog comes home?
A full handover, so you learn to handle him the way he's been trained. He goes home with a four-week re-bonding plan, a home training plan, and a follow-up session four weeks later, in person or over Zoom.
Do you work outside Lancaster?
Yes. In-home coaching is available anywhere in the UK, and I take on one overseas client each quarter.
Can you keep our work confidential?
Every client is treated in complete confidence, and I'm happy to sign your non-disclosure agreement.
Is there another way to work with your methods?
My team at A&T Trained Dogs offers residential training, 1-to-1 lessons, boarding and fully trained dogs from Heronswood, at a different price point. The difference is that their programmes are delivered by my team rather than by me personally.
Do you place assistance dogs?
Assistance dogs are placed through A&T Trained Dogs. Through this site I offer family companions, therapy dogs and family protection dogs.

Every application is read by me. If we're a fit, we start with a consultation: £500, refunded against your programme.
